“I think of myself as a reporter, absorbing the extraordinary natural world around me, armed with brushes, paint and canvas.”
Life is a moving landscape, once captured by drawings and now with sketchbook, paint brush and easel. After decades in professional politics in Washington, D.C. and New England, my observer’s soul is immersed in painting – mostly landscapes in the Lowcountry of South Carolina and Georgia, the people in those landscapes and the boats that ply its rivers, marshes and coastline. I paint the summer waters and woods of New England and the emerging new landscape of “my Boston.” I am an en plein air and studio painter working in oil with forays into watercolor. Among those I have studied with are artists Chris Groves, Mark Horton, Jonathan McPhillips, Peggy Ellis and Nancy Franke.
