Marge Sone Gravina
Margie Sone Gravina is an artist and jewelry designer whose creations radiate all the passion and color of her native island, the Dominican Republic. Her jewelry, characterized by luxurious combinations of texture and color. Thanks to her passion, we discover Larimar, a dreamy, Caribbean semi-precious stone, fashioned into shimmering silver earrings, necklaces and bracelets. It’s sea green to dark-blue hues, ever changing, belie its source: only in the southwest mountains of Margie’s native Dominican Republic.
The artist, a former fashion designer and boutique owner, began making jewelry years ago in Miami, taking workshops to learn how to bead, wire wrap, straw-cast, mixing and matching Larimar with coral, agate, fresh water pearls, tourmaline and jade. Margie favorite course destination to learn different techniques is the William Holland Lapidary School in the North Carolina mountains.
Margie Sone Gravina’s flair for art was evident at an early age. Her parents encouraged her talent in drawing and later enrolled her in an prestigious art school in her hometown the Dominican Republic learning all genres of art. Though painting has always been her greatest passion, her life journey has led to a career mainly in design.
Sone Gravina moved to Miami, Fla. and continues her painting studies in the University of Miami, South Beach Art School and The Bass Museum of Art….workshop in Tuscany, Provence, Amalfi Coast and Cinque Terre.
